A plugin for Houdini

Procedural
Canvas

a board that lives inside your Houdini project

Why

Your board is saved inside the .hip file.

References, notes, sketches, VEX snippets and viewport snapshots stay with the project. Send the .hip to a teammate and the notes go with it. No PureRef files, no Obsidian vault, no folder of screenshots.

FAQ

Where is my board stored?

Inside the node, so it is saved with your .hip file. There are no external files to keep track of.

Can I share .hip files that contain boards?

Yes, freely. To open and edit the board, the other person needs their own copy of the plugin.

Does it slow Houdini down?

The board only draws while it is open. Large images are cached at screen resolution while you zoom and pan.

Will boards from v1.0 open in later versions?

Yes. The board format is versioned, so newer versions read older boards.
